No UK competition in 2009
Introduced in 2008, the UK competition added a higher tier to the existing competitions, with winning villages from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland competing for the honour of being named the United Kingdom Calor Village of the Year.
Isle of Barra, winner of the Scotland competition, was crowned UK champion in the annual awards ceremony.
However, there will no longer be a UK arm to Calor Village of the Year - with the competition returning to its previous format.
The national competitions remain the ultimate way to put your village through its paces. Each national competition is looking for villages that excel in categories such as ‘People’, ‘Business’, and ‘Environment’ while also showing a special ‘X’ factor.
If your village is vibrant, enterprising and friendly you could be in with a chance of winning!
