The news was announced at an awards lunch held on Tuesday 21st November, 2006.

Community Spirit

In 2005, the Clydesdale Bank announced they were closing a number of branches across Aberdeenshire, including the branch in New Deer. Despite a petition, the building was still put on the market.

New Deer Community Association formed a new group - the Buchan Community Enterprise Group - to bid for the building. They won - and then succesfully negotiated with Royal Bank of Scotland to buy the building from them.
