Completed entry forms must include contact details of a recognised official of the community body submitting the entry who is aware of the entry’s contents and who can be contacted by the organisers if required.
The answers provided in the online entry will be ‘blind judged’, so no reference to the name of the community should be made in the answers apart from within the 500 word submission on ‘What makes your community a special place?’
Answers will be scored against criteria set by independent judges and a short list will be defined.
Those communities that are short-listed will be asked to present their entries in person to the judging panel. The judges will then visit the regional winners to determine the overall Scottish Calor Village of the Year® 2008 winner. The visits are likely to take place August or September 2008. Each visit will last no more than two hours.
Each successful short listed community will be contacted by the end of June 2008 to advise them that they have got through to the next stage.
The overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in November or December 2008. The regional winners will be invited to send two representatives to the awards event to celebrate their achievements.
