Calor Village of the Year

How to enter

If you want to enter your village into the Calor Village of the Year® competition, you’ve come to the right place.

There are four competitions (England, Scotland, Walesand Northern Ireland), so you will need to apply to the one applicable to your country.

Each country has a different entry process, so click on your country below to find out how to enter and what conditions apply.

PLEASE NOTE: Whichever country you are in, you will be able to enter a number of different categories, such as 'people' and 'business'.

To be in with a chance of winning, you must enter all the categories offered by your nation.

England

There are 12,000 villages eligible to take part in the England competition. To enter your village, (population must be under 5,000), follow these simple steps:

Step one

Contact your county organiser and get involved in the county levels (this is effectively round one).

Step Two

You must win your county competition, or be nominated within your county, to enter the national competition (round two).

Step three

Entries to the national competition are only accepted via recommendation from the county competition organisers.

Wales

There are 1,000 eligible villages in Wales, each with a population of 5,000 or less. If yours is one of them, you can enter the competition by taking the following steps:

Step one

Visit www.calorvillageoftheyear.org/wales and click ‘How to enter’.

Step Two

Download a Calor Village of the Year® for Wales entry form, complete it and email it to info@calorvillageoftheyear.org, with a written page of less than 500 words stating why your village is a special place.

Step three

Once accepted, you will be placed in one of three regional competitions, depending on your location in the country.

Scotland

There are 1,250 rural communities, with populations of 5,000 or less, entitled to enter the Scotland competition. If yours is one of them, follow these simple steps:

Step one

Visit www.calorvillageoftheyear.org/scotland.

Step Two

Fill out a Calor Village of the Year® for Scotland online form, which includes questions across four categories and a 500 word feature on 'What makes your community a special place?"

Step three

If selected, your village will then be put into one of four regional competitions, depending on your location in the country.

N.Ireland

With only 267 villages eligible to enter, there are fewer legs to the Northern Ireland competition. Villages with a population of 4,500 or less are able to take part. To apply:

Step one

Visit www.calorvillageoftheyear.org/northern-ireland and click on 'how to enter'.

Step Two

Download a Calor VIllage of the Year® for Northern Ireland entry form, and complete it with input from fellow villagers.

Step three

Return your form by the stated closing date, and if your village is selected to go forward you will have a chance at the national title.
