Round Two Results Revealed in Lincolnshire Best Kept Competition

The communities that have made it through to the final round in the 2005 Lincolnshire Best Kept Village and Small Town competition have been revealed. They now face just one more visit from competition judges during August when the overall winners will be decided.

The communities through to the final round are as follows: -

Class I –

Faldingworth

East Keal

Skillington

Class II –

Binbrook

Stickney

Thurlby

Class III –

Pinchbeck

Saxilby

Burgh le Marsh

Small Market Town –

Caistor

Long Sutton

Market Deeping

Spilsby

Also commencing in August is the judging for the Past Winners award, which is contested by small and medium sized villages that have won their class during the past four years. The villages to be judged are: -

Bassingham, Freiston, Greatford, Hagworthingham, Harlaxton, Scotton and Sutterton

Competition organiser, Teresa Palmer, commented: “The competition has been very tough this year, and all the finalists should all feel a great sense of achievement at getting this far. What is particularly impressive is the number of communities in the final stages this year that have either never been placed in the competition, or that haven’t won for a number of years. It shows that Lincolnshire’s villages and small towns are continuously working hard to improve their communities and to get everyone working together. I never stop being pleasantly surprised by the wonderful sense of community spirit this event brings out in villages and small towns across the county every year.”

The Best Kept Village and Small Towns competition is run by the Community Council of Lincolnshire on behalf of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England. Sponsorship is provided by Calor, the UK’s leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) with additional support from Lincolnshire’s District and County Councils, Pennells of Lincoln and Tucann Design and Print.

Further information regarding the competition is available from Teresa Palmer by email at bkv@cclincs.com, or by telephoning 01529 302466. The winners will be announced in September, and a formal presentation event will take place on 3rd November.
