2006 North Lincolnshire Best Kept Village & Small Towns Competition Launches
The 2006 North Lincolnshire Best Kept Village and Small Towns competition has just been launched with information and entry forms going out to parishes across north and north east Lincolnshire.
The competition is organised by Sue Franks on behalf of Northern Lincolnshire CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England) and sponsored by Calor, the UK’s leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), with additional support from local sponsors Fenland Leisure, the Scunthorpe Telegraph, Oaklands Nurseries and Stephen Smith’s Garden Centre. The competition separates communities into categories for Small Villages, Large Villages, Small Towns and Past Winners, as well as providing prizes for the Best Public House, Best Playground, Best Churchyard, Best Community Planting and Best Environmental Project.
Sue Franks is looking forward to a good response from communities to the 2006 competition. She commented: “Taking part in this competition is a wonderful way of celebrating and promoting your community. The competition brings communities together and gets residents working towards a common goal. We judge the villages or towns on overall tidiness and cleanliness, how well the community facilities are kept and on the condition of both private gardens and any public planting. Throughout the competition’s history, the standard of entries has always been very high, and I would encourage as many of North Lincolnshire’s villages and small towns as possible to get involved in the competition so that they can gain recognition for their hard work.”
The deadline for entries to the North Lincolnshire Best Kept Village and Small Towns competition is May 6th 2006 and judging will take place during June and August. For further information, please contact Sue Franks on 01427 754312, email sue@suefranks.wanadoo.co.uk.
