2006 North Lincolnshire Best Kept Village & Small Towns Competition – Deadline Approaching

Communities throughout north and north east Lincolnshire are being reminded not to leave it too late if they want to enter the 2006 North Lincolnshire Best Kept Village and Small Towns competition. Information and entry forms went out to parishes at the end of February encouraging them to enter and the deadline for entries is coming up on May 6th.

The competition is organised by Sue Franks on behalf of Northern Lincolnshire CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England) and sponsored by Calor, the UK’s leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), with additional support from local sponsors Fenland Leisure, the Scunthorpe Telegraph, Oaklands Nurseries and Stephen Smith’s Garden Centre. Sue Franks commented: “We’ve had a positive response from communities so far, but I want as many as possible to benefit from taking part. Taking part in this competition is a wonderful way of celebrating and promoting your community so act now and get your entry in before it’s too late.”

The competition separates communities into categories for Small Villages, Large Villages, Small Towns and Past Winners, as well as providing prizes for the Best Public House, Best Playground, Best Churchyard, Best Community Planting and Best Environmental Project.

“ The competition focuses on the community spirit highlighted through a well-kept environment, and celebrates communities pulling together for the benefit of all residents,” added Sue. “We’re not looking for ‘perfect’ villages. The emphasis is very much on community involvement, and the work that goes on to sustain village amenities and activities.”

For further information and entry forms please contact Sue Franks on 01427 754312, email sue@suefranks.wanadoo.co.uk.
