Constantine - Business Award Winner

The village of Constantine is a strong community that has achieved a lot in past years and has many plans for the future, helping it to remain lively, vibrant and thriving.

Constantine is also a very caring community. A village charity – the Constantine Enterprise Company, was set up in 1998 in order to progress a number of ‘dream’ projects in the village, and today many have been completed. Now residents are once again being consulted in the development of a wider based Parish Plan. On average, with all the charitable events in progress in the village taken into account, about £1,500 is raised per month by villagers, and funds are put towards both local causes and national / international charities.

There are many clubs and societies on offer to residents, providing activities for a wide range of ages, and all are well supported. The Toleman Centre is an excellent village facility with a 200 seat auditorium, a varied programme of art, drama and music events and much more. This facility makes a massive contribution to the village’s community life and is run by a team of volunteers, all of whom enjoy being part of this excellent resource.

The business community in Constantine is also thriving with an excellent selection of local shops and services. As well as being an excellent social facility, the Toleman Centre is run as a community business and a number of new village enterprises occupy space within these eco-friendly premises, for example the village printing facility, health care professionals and a hairdresser. All of Constantine’s businesses are featured in ‘Who’s Where’ – a village directory which is produced annually.

Constantine is situated to the south west of the port of Falmouth in Cornwall and has a population of about 1,000.
